Lorenzo N, Cello, Piano, and Double Bass

Lorenzo Nigrelli is a Double Bassist and gamba player from Hickory, North Carolina. Currently, he is based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Lorenzo holds a Master of Music in double bass performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music studying with Rachel Calin and a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro studying with Craig Brown. In addition to these degrees, he has pursued a focus in Historically informed performance(HIP) working with teachers such as Heather Miller Lardin, Margaret Uruqhart, and James Munroe. Lorenzo has experience in HIP, chamber music, opera and musical pit, bluegrass, jazz, and symphonic playing. He mostly focuses on the HIP and chamber music aspects of his artistic career. This varied approach to playing influences his pedagogical ideas. Lorenzo has taught various students on bass from beginner to advanced across multiple states over his years performing. His major teaching goals are to meet the students where they are at, find achievable and substantial goals to work towards, and to make sure playing is comfortable and enjoyable for the student.
