A Fun Way to Practice Bow Control
More bow makes you sound better, right? Sure, but that's only half of the story. Sometimes young players can be so eager and excited that their bows move too fast for the notes that they have to play! There are many tricks that we can use to help slow things down, but one of my favorites is the bow swap. As you can see in this picture of James, he is playing his 1/4 size violin with a 1/32 size bow! He had a lot of fun going through many of the songs he knows, and with so much less bow to work with, he slowed it way down and exhibited great bow control! Everyone can check out James's bow control on this month's recital, when he plays Waltz!
