Jeongeun Park was born in Seoul, South Korea and resides currently in Cincinnati, Ohio. From an early age, she surrounded herself in music whether it was the informal piano lessons from her mother or the focused study of the violin beginning at the age of 5. Leading up to her high school years, she switched her area of focus from violin to viola and attended the prestigious Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul to obtain her Bachelor of Music degree. Under the tutelage of Professor Do-Yeon Kim, Jeongeun participated in and won numerous competitions. Furthermore, during her time at the university, she performed as the Principal Viola of the orchestra until her graduation.
After making the decision to study abroad, Jeongeun began her studies under Professor Catharine Carroll Lees and Professor Masao Kawasaki in 2010 at the College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Beginning with her Artist Diploma, she went on to complete her Master of Music degree as well and is currently a Doctoral Candidate. Alongside her studies, she has attended several contests and festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and several master classes.
Her professional experience is rooted in education, having run her own private studio while in Seoul and having run a more exclusive studio in Cincinnati. At school, she has been a mentor and tutor with her work as a Graduate Assistant, teaching both Undergraduate and Graduate level students. Coupled with her work in several local orchestras as a Violist, Jeongeun Park is the epitome of a musician: driven, passionate, and absolutely in love with music.
